VAR offers programmes of up to six weeks to invited artists. Residents are encouraged to explore a new environment and culture and to take time for reflection and experimentation. Ensconced in natural beauty and quiet, artists are able to block out ’the noise’ and work freely, without distractions.

The programme provides accommodation, a studio, materials, a stipend and travel within Europe and the UK. Local services are also provided to ensure a comfortable stay.
